Good Bye to T.O.-
So T.O. is finally gone
from the Eagles and has signed with their biggest rival, the hated Dallas Cowboys.
This is the equivalent to your ex-wife remarrying your arch rival at the
competing company. You couldn't wait to get rid of her and you are
much happier, but it sticks in your grill that she's with him and she may be
even a little happy.
The same thing can be said
for T.O. While all Eagles fans will admit he is a great talent and
probably one of the top 3 WR's in the league, most
are happy that he is gone. When he first came to Philly from San
Francisco, fans said now that he is with a team that has a chance to win a
Super Bowl, T.O. will shut up and just want to win that elusive ring.
Well for the first 13 weeks T.O. was special, until he got hurt and was
offended that Donovan McNabb said they could get to and win the Super Bowl
without him. God forbid anybody should say something could be done
without Owens. He worked his butt off and came back for the Super Bowl
where he had a tremendous game. I contend to this day that it was the
worst thing that could happen to the Eagles.
He got so much attention
and it fed right into his massive ego. He was looked at like the greatest
hero in Philly for playing the way he did. The problem was, the Eagles
lost the Super Bowl and you know the rest. He played great but their was no ring and T.O. made sure everyone knew he
deserved more money. He switched agents, complained all off season
about a new contract, took shots at Donovan McNabb about getting tired in the
last 5 minutes, was sent home at the beginning of training camp, played part of
the year, and was eventually suspended for the year and released last
week.
It really is a shame the
way things worked out. If he would of just shut his mouth and gone out in
2005 and beyond, he and McNabb could have been a dynamic duo for years to
come. I cannot wait for the first time Drew Bledsoe overthrows him or
Bill Parcells doesn't involve him in the
offense. Just the sight of seeing him pout or yelling at someone on the
sideline will bring a huge smile to my face.
Be careful what you wish
for
